Designed in New York, made ethically in Bolivia.
Welcome to Yapa Alpaca Store, a brand born from a deep respect for heritage, craftsmanship, and sustainability. Founded by designer Bernarda Pelaez, Yapa blends contemporary design with the rich traditions of Bolivian artisans. Every piece is thoughtfully created to last, bringing together natural materials and ethical practices.
Yapa began with a simple idea: fewer pieces, made in a better way. We design in New York, but our heart is in Bolivia, where every garment is handcrafted with care. Using 100% baby alpaca wool, our Alpaca Clothing is made by skilled knitters who continue centuries-old traditions. The result is timeless knitwear that feels luxurious, durable, and meaningful. Each sweater, cardigan, or accessory carries a story. From the highlands of La Paz, Bolivia; 3,600 meters above sea level, our artisans knit every piece with patience and expertise. Many of our designs are hand embroidered, adding character and authenticity.

Handcrafted – Every piece is made by artisans who carry forward ancestral skills.
Sustainable – We design fewer, higher-quality pieces that reduce waste and pollution.
Ethically Made – Our knitters, many of them women, work from home or in workshops with fair wages and flexible conditions.
Cruelty-Free – Alpacas are sheared once a year in spring, a natural process that keeps them comfortable in the summer while providing the fiber for our knits.
